Dr. Robert W. Holloway, Medical Director of Florida Hospital Gynecologic Oncology, was conferred the honorary degree Doctor Honoris Causa of the Medical University of Pleven (MUP), Pleven, Bulgaria, on October 9, 2015. This honor has been bestowed to Dr. Holloway for his and team’s contributions, expertise, and support to the development of the robotic surgery and scientific research activities at the MUP. The honorary doctorate degree was presented to him at a special ceremony of the 13th International Medical Scientific Conference for Students and Young Doctors, organized by the MUP during October 7-10, 2015. The title of his academic honorary lecture was: “Targeting Treatment Failure in Endometrial Cancer: Robotic Sentinel Lymph Node Mapping and Infra-renal Lymphadenectomy”.
The annual conference recognizes international scholars that have innovated new medical therapies or the science behind new therapies. Dr. Holloway is the second American physician and the first gynecologic oncologist to be given this honor.
