What is Survivorship?

The Global Robotics Institute offers the Blueprint for Men's Health prostate cancer survivorship program as a guide for patients to achieve a healthy lifestyle and an enhanced quality of life. It is a dynamic personalized health care plan, specifically focused on survivorship, evolving from a comprehensive, multidisciplinary assessment of the patient's disease, treatment provided and needs as they develop over time.

The plan provides vital information to assist the patient in dealing with the various challenges that must be met following surgery. It encourages the patient to self-manage and cope with the results of surgical or medical intervention and the required ongoing follow-up. The Blueprint for Men's Health survivorship program creates a continuum of care model for patients facing issues with functional, oncological and quality of life issues.

This program helps men manage the physical, emotional and psychological effects of both the disease and treatment. During your first visit with us, we will go over a personalized care plan with your specific needs in mind. This care plan is put together with data collected by our research department and includes your individual pre and post op information. In addition, our nurse practitioner and survivorship care team will review guidelines on the management of your health after surgery, and the specific follow up care recommended. Pending the results of your evaluation, you may be referred to services outside of our practice, such as sexual function therapy, nutrition, physical activity, complementary medicine and other community resources. Your initial appointment will be approximately 45 minutes. The number of appointments that you have is your own personal preference. Upon receipt of your care plan and discussion with the care team, you will be able to decide whether you want one appointment, annual appointments or one every few years.
